Ayden Case, Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina
University of Cambridge

Ayden is a member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina pursuing a Ph.D. in Medicine (Immunology) at the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on developing immunotherapies for cardiovascular disease, a condition which disproportionately impacts Native American communities. During his undergraduate studies at Duke University, Ayden investigated barriers to healthcare and surgical outcome disparities among Native Americans in North Carolina. He is involved as a mentor in UNC-Pembroke’s COMPASS and U-RISE programs, preparing students to pursue STEM careers and graduate studies. Following completion of his doctoral training, Ayden intends to pursue medical education in the US and continue his cardiovascular immunotherapy research as a physician-scientist.
