Our Programs - California

Since 2010, Parks in Focus® has teamed up with Yosemite National Park to host Yosemite in Focus. Our current partner youth organizations are the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula and the YMCA of Silicon Valley. Camping in Yosemite Valley, participants hone their photography skills with views of El Capitan, Yosemite Falls, and Half Dome at sunset, and enjoy a photography walk with staff from the Ansel Adams Gallery.

They help restore native plant habitat and, in a culminating ceremony, are sworn in as Junior Rangers. Thanks to generous support from the Yosemite Conservancy, participants keep their digital cameras as an incentive to continue their photographic explorations. Photo highlights from their adventures are displayed at the Ansel Adams Gallery and other venues each year.
