Lucille is Zuni and Navajo, her clan is Crow and she is born for the Red Bottom People Clan. She will be a rising senior at Northern Arizona University, majoring in mechanical engineering with minors in Native American studies and Tribal public administration. Within her college community, she serves as a Community Assistant and resides in the Indigenous Peoples Living Learning Community (IPLLC), and has served as a Student Senator for the College of Engineering, Informatics and Applied Sciences for the Associated Students of Northern Arizona University (ASNAU). Lucille showcases her dedication to promoting cultural understanding and supporting marginalized communities by volunteering at local food and homeless shelters. Moreover, her active participation in the Stem Interactive Community Hub (STICH) Polar Explorer Program underscores her commitment to fostering inclusivity and accessibility within STEM education and research. Through the Udall Internship, she hopes to gain experience that will support her desire to attend law school. She aims to focus on Federal Indian law and contribute to improving comprehensive reforms that respect Indigenous rights, promote self-determination, and address historical injustices while fostering meaningful collaboration and unity between Indigenous Nations and the Federal government.
