Karlen A. Yallup, Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon
University of Idaho

Karlen Yallup, a Wasco from the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, recently graduated with dual bachelor’s degrees in forest resources and fire ecology and management from the University of Idaho. Ms. Yallup intends to protect and strengthen the rights, liberties and sovereignty of Native people, making ecological sustainability a priority, especially in times of social, political, or economic turmoil. She plans to attend graduate school in environmental law or economic development. She believes a healthy and sustainable environment, both mentally and physically, is an abiding fundamental right for all of humanity and will continue to strive every day to help achieve this.
