Todd Phelps, Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate of the Lake Traverse Reservation
University of North Dakota

Todd is Sisseton-Wahpeton from Rapid City, South Dakota and is currently attending the University of North Dakota for a PhD in Clinical Psychology. Todd works at the Native American Community Clinic in Minneapolis, MN delivering neurocognitive assessments and therapy. Todd's prior research focused on creating a culturally sensitive depression scale for American Indian youth to combat suicide and shift therapy-as-usual to a cultural therapeutic context. Todd's dissertation aims to define a suicide trajectory within American Indian communities. Todd grew up in traditional spirituality and culture so strives to master and utilize western methodologies to validate therapeutic cultural practices.
