UDALL FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Board of Trustees of the Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Foundation (Udall Foundation) is pleased to announce that Dr. David Brown became Executive Director of the Udall Foundation on September 1, 2019. Mr. Marc Rosen, current Udall Foundation General Counsel, assumed the additional responsibilities of Deputy Executive Director on the same date. Between them, Dr. Brown and Mr. Rosen bring over 25 years’ experience leading Federal programs and organizations.
A two-time graduate of the University of Arizona, Dr. Brown is delighted to return to Tucson to assume the role of Executive Director. Prior to joining the Udall Foundation, he was Director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Southern Plains Climate Hub and Acting Director of the Agricultural Research Service’s Grazinglands Research Laboratory. In previous positions, he served as Southern Region Climate Services Director for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and in academic faculty appointments at Louisiana State University and the University of New Hampshire, where he also served as New Hampshire State Climatologist.
“We are thrilled to have David join the Udall Foundation as its new Executive Director,” said Udall Foundation Board of Trustees Chair Mr. Eric Eberhard. “In addition to his prior leadership of Federal programs, his background and record of scholarship in environmental science and services is well-aligned with the Udall Foundation’s programs in education, public and Tribal policy, and environmental conflict resolution as well as its partnership with the University of Arizona. David is committed to working with the Udall Foundation’s leadership team to continue building on Morris and Stewart Udall’s legacy of civility, integrity, consensus, public service and nonpartisanship, and the Board of Trustees is excited to support him in this effort.”
Dr. Brown received his bachelor’s degree in Meteorology from Penn State University, and his master’s and doctoral degrees in Geography from the University of Arizona.
Mr. Rosen was appointed General Counsel in 2018 and now assumes the additional role of Deputy Executive Director. Prior to joining the Udall Foundation, he was the Chief Supervisory Attorney for the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command office at Ft. Huachuca, Arizona. Prior to that, he had been a member of the legal office of the Communications-Electronics Command since 2004 and had served as an attorney for the U.S. Navy, the City of San Diego and the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer.

Marc also ably and skillfully led the Udall Foundation during a monthslong transition period as its Acting Executive Director. The Board of Trustees is very happy that he will continue to play a vital role in the organization’s leadership as its Deputy Executive Director, while continuing his stewardship of its legal portfolio as General Counsel.”
Mr. Rosen received his bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and his Juris Doctor from Whittier College of Law, Los Angeles, California.
