Award Announcement
Nominations are now being accepted for the first "Innovation in Technology and ECR" Award. The award will recognize new and innovative applications of technologies within collaborative environmental processes. The Award will be presented at the U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution’s ECR 2010 conference to be held in May 2010 in Tucson, Arizona. Nominated projects will also be featured in an "Innovations Gallery" during the event.
Nominations:
We are seeking projects which have achieved an innovative integration of technology into collaborative environmental processes. Nominated projects must address an environmental conflict or challenge and should comprise collaborative, dispute resolution or decision-making processes. Projects should include technological applications over a range of categories, including communication/collaboration, decision support, visualization, evaluation, and monitoring. Ideally, project teams will include both mediators/practitioners and technologists.

Nomination Deadline: January 22, 2010
Award Selection:
Nominations will be evaluated by a panel of judges from the Technology and ECR Coordinating Committee, overseen by the U.S. Institute for ECR. The panel comprises expertise in ECR, mediation, technology development and technology applications. The winner will be presented at the ECR 2010 conference (link) in May 2010.
Selection Criteria:
Projects will be evaluated from the perspective of how well the technological application successfully enhanced the ECR process. Nominations will be judged on the extent to which they have met the nomination criteria, including the extent to which:
- the technology enhanced the ECR process and outcomes,
- the project represented one of the first known applications of a particular technology to an ECR process, or an innovative application of an existing technology to an ECR process,
- the project represents a prototype that can be applied to other ECR processes in the future,
- the project contributes to the broader field and practice of integrating new technologies with ECR practice.
