Guidance for Applicants

Although interns come from a variety of academic disciplines and circumstances, alumni of the program report that the skills and knowledge that were most useful to them in the Internship Program were:

  • Research ability, particularly legal research
  • Critical thinking and analysis
  • Writing, especially a memo, prĂ©cis, or white paper
  • Knowledge of tribal government, nation-building, and Native American issues in general
  • The ability to work well with other and be a team player
  • Time management and organization

  • January 28, 2011
    Receipt deadline for Udall Internship applications

  • February
    Selection Committee meets to review applications and select Interns
    Applicants notified of final status

  • March
    Intern Acceptance and Travel Reply forms due

  • April
    Udall Interns announced on website

  • May 26-August 5, 2011
