Samuel C. Beavin
Sam Beavin is a junior biochemistry major at the University of Kentucky. He hopes to study the effects of environmental pollution on public health. He has served as coordinator for UK Greenthumb, the main student environmental group at the University of Kentucky, and is the student body representative on the university's Climate Action Plan committee. Over the past year, Sam has worked in a chemistry research lab at UK's Center for Applied Energy Research, developing components for photovoltaic solar cells, and will study renewable energy policy this summer in Pamplona, Spain. In his free time, Sam enjoys being outdoors, running, and reading.

How can you describe a weekend of student leaders from across the U.S. with an intense passion to change the world? The Orientation was a phenomenal experience to meet and build connections that I'm sure will last a lifetime.
