FINALISTS ANNOUNCED FOR THE TERRENCE L. BRACY DISTINGUISHED ALUMNUS AWARD

Posted: 4/2/2012

The Udall Foundation is pleased to announce four finalists for the Terrence L. Bracy Distinguished Alumnus Award. The award recognizes outstanding contributions from Udall alumni in four principal areas of public service: conflict resolution, environmental work, health care (including social services), and tribal public policy.

The finalists are:

  • Dustin "Jensen" Adams, associate executive director of the Metropolitan Energy Center
  • Clara Pratte, director of Navajo Nation Washington Office;
  • Brandon Whitney, co-founder of ioby.org;
  • Mellor Willie, executive director of the National American Indian Housing Council.

These finalists were nominated by other alumni, Udall Foundation staff and Board members, and Udall Foundation faculty representatives.

A selection committee composed of Udall Foundation staff, the president of the Udall alumni association, an alumnus, and a member of the Udall Foundation Board of Trustees selected these four finalists from among 13 nominations.

Each finalist is an alumnus of one or more of the Udall Foundation’s education programs. In addition, the finalists have made outstanding contributions that benefitted their communities, improved people’s lives, preserved and protected the environment, promoted the use of conflict resolution, or supported tribal self-governance and economic development. Most important, the finalists exemplify the ideals of the Udall Foundation: civility, integrity, and consensus.

The winner of the Terrence L. Bracy Distinguished Alumnus Award will be announced in May. The award winner will be recognized on www.udall.gov and invited to speak at a Foundation event later in the year.
